America's next favorite crossing guard might be based in Missoula.
Ron Ramsbacher is known as one of the owners of Missoula Fresh Market, but it's not his only job. Ramsbacher and other Fresh Market employees also help out as crossing guards at Meadow Hill Middle School. Safe Kids Missoula chose Ramsbacher to represent the community in the America's Favorite Crossing Guard contest, and Meadow Hill principal Natalie Jaeger says all the volunteer crossing guards mean a lot to the kids.
"They know that those are not school employees. They know that those are community members that are looking out for them," Jaeger said. "I think it's also a signal to the kids that they matter. Not just to the school or to their parents, but also to the community."
If Ramsbacher wins the title, Meadow Hill Middle School will receive $10,000 to teach kids about street safety. Voting is open until November 30, and you can vote here.
